About Albanian American National Organization — Albany Chapter
- Area served:
- Albany, New York
The Albanian American National Organization — Albany Chapter is the Albany, New York chapter of AANO, a non-religious, non-political federation established in 1946 and chartered in the State of New York in 1951. Albany is one of nine chapters in the AANO network, alongside Boston, Bridgeport, Chicago, Clearwater, Detroit, New York, Toronto, and Worcester.
As described by the national organization, AANO was created to perpetuate and celebrate Albanian heritage. Each chapter conducts local ethnic events and takes part in national functions, including AANO's annual convention. The Albany Chapter fits into that structure as the upstate New York presence of the federation.
A central national program the chapters support is AANO's scholarship fund for Albanian-American college students, which awards thousands of dollars each year and has assisted hundreds of students over time. Chapter activity also feeds into AANO's broader work in cultural events, educational initiatives, and advocacy.
Paul Apostol has been listed in AANO's chapter directory as the contact for the Albany Chapter. More information about the national organization and its chapters is maintained at aano.org.
