Albanian American Organization Chameria (AAOC)

The Albanian American Organization Chameria, known by the initials AAOC and in Albanian as Organizata Shqiptaro-Amerikane Çamëria, is a non-governmental organization based in Chicago, Illinois. Its work centers on Cham Albanians — the community whose roots trace to the Chameria region — and specifically on those who are American citizens.

AAOC describes its mission as working and conducting research for the rights of and the issues facing Cham Albanians in the United States. That framing places the group in the advocacy and research corner of the Albanian-American civic landscape, distinct from cultural centers or social clubs that focus on programming and events.

The organization is separate from the National Political Association Çamëria and other Cham associations based in Albania, even though they share a common cause. AAOC is the U.S.-based body, and its constituency is Cham Albanians who hold American citizenship.

AAOC maintains a public-facing presence under the name ChameriaUSA on Facebook, which serves as its main point of contact for community members and anyone following its advocacy work on Cham Albanian issues.
