About Our Lady Of Albanians Parish Southfield
- Area served:
- metro Detroit
Our Lady of Albanians Parish is an Albanian-language Roman Catholic parish in Southfield, Michigan, under the Archdiocese of Detroit. The church sits at 29350 Lahser Road and is also known to its community as Kisha Katolike Zoja Pajtore. It belongs to the Northwest South Oakland 6 Family of Parishes within the archdiocese's South Oakland Vicariate.
The parish moved to its current Southfield location in 2007, after purchasing and remodeling an existing church building. The community had previously gathered in Birmingham, Michigan, where Our Lady of Albanians was first established. In 2021, the parish completed a new building next to the church containing a banquet hall, a modern kitchen, a conference room, and classrooms for religious education.
Masses are offered primarily in Albanian, with an English Sunday Mass on the schedule as well. Weekday Mass is celebrated mornings, and the parish also holds Thursday adoration followed by an evening Albanian Mass. Confession is heard before weekend liturgies. Religious education is provided in the new classroom wing.
Leadership is assigned by the Archdiocese of Detroit. Rev. Dik Cekrezi serves as administrator, Rev. Kemal Kokona as parochial vicar, and Sr. Vitore Rushaj, F.I.C., in special ministry. Together they care for Albanian Catholics across metro Detroit, for whom the parish functions as both a sacramental home and a cultural gathering place.
