Shoqata Atdhetare Malësia e Madhe (Malesia e Madhe Association of Michigan)

Shoqata Atdhetare Malësia e Madhe – Michigan is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the Sterling Heights and Shelby Township area, organized around the Malësia e Madhe community that emigrated from the highlands straddling northern Albania and Montenegro. Its stated mission is to strengthen the Albanian community in the United States through cultural, educational, and humanitarian programs, while preserving the traditions, language, history, and values of Malësia e Madhe.

The association works on two fronts: the Albanian diaspora in the U.S. and compatriots in the ethnic lands back home, with stated emphasis on families in need and people with disabilities. Albanian-community press in Michigan describes it as one of the oldest and most active Albanian associations in the state.

A visible part of its work is student aid. Albanian-language coverage reports that the Michigan group has distributed 24 scholarships and has run open scholarship competitions for students, including for the 2023–2024 academic year. The association has also held public commemorations of national figures, including a recent gathering marking Skanderbeg.

IRS filings list annual revenue of $43,550, consistent with a volunteer-run cultural association funded by member dues, banquets, and community donations rather than outside grants.
