St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral

St. George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral sits at 523 East Broadway in South Boston and serves as the headquarters of the Albanian Archdiocese of the Orthodox Church in America. Founded in 1908 by Fan Noli, it is the mother church of Albanian Orthodoxy in the United States and the seat from which the Archdiocese oversees its Massachusetts Deanery parishes.

The cathedral's congregation draws from more than 40 towns across Massachusetts and from neighboring states. Services are offered in both English and Albanian, with Matins, Divine Liturgy, Church School, and a Fellowship Hour on the parish schedule, and confessions heard before liturgies or by appointment.

The Sunday School was organized in 1923 under Bishop Fan Noli's direction. The current complex took the name Saint George Albanian Orthodox Cathedral in 1949, and the Sunday School house next door at 529 East Broadway was acquired by the Diocese in 1955. The cathedral also houses the Fan Noli Library.

Beyond worship, the parish is known for cultural, educational, and charitable work tied to Albanian-American life, with activity extending from the Boston area to communities in the Balkans. It remains the central reference point for Albanian Orthodox Christians in the United States.
