Drita E Arbërisë (DEA) — Albanian-American Association of Washington

Drita e Arbërisë (DEA) — the Albanian-American Association of Washington — is a charitable, cultural, and educational organization based in Lynnwood, WA. It was established in 2011 in the State of Washington, and on its own materials it goes by the Albanian name Shoqata Shqiptare-Amerikane e WA "Drita e Arbërisë."

The association's by-laws set out a clear purpose: preserving and promoting the Albanian language, culture, and traditions, strengthening the Albanian community in Washington, and contributing to the broader American society. Educational work with children and youth — passing on Albanian history, language, and customs to the next generation in the diaspora — is written directly into that founding document.

In practice, DEA organizes cultural events across the greater Seattle area, including evenings of Albanian music and gatherings around national holidays such as Festa e Flamurit (Flag Day). The group has also run charitable fundraising tied to events in Albania, including support for families affected by the 2019 earthquake.

DEA serves Albanian-American residents of Lynnwood and the greater Seattle metropolitan area, and more broadly the Albanian diaspora across Washington State. The Albanian-American newspaper Gazeta Dielli has profiled the association as a carrier of Albanian identity in the Pacific Northwest, and its inclusion in directories of U.S. Albanian organizations reflects its standing as one of the formally organized community associations on the West Coast.
